Biography

Andrew Maurin is an Associate Attorney at GEM Family Law. He practices exclusively in family law and has extensive litigation experience in child custody, child relocation, child support, and dependency and neglect matters.

Andrew graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law, and he served as a law clerk for the Children’s Law Center throughout his time in law school with a focus on education and civil rights law. Andrew practiced as a Senior Program Attorney for children in Dependency & Neglect proceedings and served as a statewide program expert for young adults in foster care and survivors of commercial sexual exploitation with the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program. During that time, Andrew also operated a legal aid program supporting young adults with foster care experience regarding a variety of issues, including child custody, child support, dependency and neglect, administrative appeals, landlord/tenant law and more.

Andrew led a nonprofit organization serving youth in foster care, tripling the organization’s revenue, launching a children’s clothing program in 5 retail-style locations, and partnering with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and United Way to fully fund a financial education program for young adults, providing a $3,000 savings match for each graduate.

Prior to joining GEM Family Law, Andrew served as a Policy Advisor for the State of Colorado’s Division of Child Support Services, serving as a key staff lead in developing, implementing, and maintaining Division policies, procedures, and regulations in child support enforcement, financial policy, and administrative reviews.
