Q: How long have you been working in the legal industry?
A: Over two years
Q: Have you ever worked in any other areas of the law?
A: No I have not.
Q: What drew you to family law?
A: I originally wanted to work in immigration and thought family law would be a good way to get some experience working directly with clients. I speak Spanish as my first language, so it has been great to help family law clients access quality family law services through my work in this area of the law.
Q: What do you enjoy most about family law?
A: Honestly, I love being even the tiniest piece of involvement in helping families through one of the hardest times in their lives.
Q: What do you think makes you stand out among other professionals?
A: No matter how stressful my workload is I always manage to have an upbeat attitude. I know that family law clients are dealing with what may be one of the more difficult times in their lives, and I am here to make there experience as pain-free as possible. I am also able to give Spanish speaking clients ready access to quality legal representation through our firm.
Q: Are you originally from Colorado? If so, what do you love most about it? If not, what brought you to Colorado and what do you love most about it?
A: I was born in Guatemala and raised in Nebraska. I love the same cliché things everyone loves about Colorado. Its vast outdoor adventures waiting for you to take them on one at a time, endlessly.
Q: When you are not working at GEM Family Law, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I spend time learning to speak Arabic, Hiking, and catching up with my loved ones.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: My most memorable moment in my whole life is when I immigrated to the USA when I was just 6 years old, and I remember vividly walking through the desert and at night time when we had reached the peak of a hill, I remember seeing what seemed like millions of stars and my mother saying “look hun, you see all those lights?’ That’s the United States of America”.
Q: Any other interesting facts/ info. About you?
A: I received a birth certificate in the mail about 6 years ago and along with it, an original copy. I looked at the original and realized that my name on it said “Leidy” not “Heidy”. I giggled and asked my mom what that was all about. Come to find out my mother changed my name when we immigrated because of her fear that I would be bullied because my name was pronounced “Lady”. Makes me giggle till this day.
