Sarah A. Wolter, Esq. is an attorney at GEM family law. She has been in the legal field for over a decade and has had an interesting multi-dimensional career. Sarah began her legal career as a paralegal in the areas of bankruptcy and family law. After several years as a paralegal, she attended law school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. During her time at UMKC, she interned at the Chapter 13 Trustee’s Office for the Western District of Missouri. After graduating, Sarah and her family returned to Denver, Colorado where she began practicing as an attorney in the area of mass tort litigation for a regional firm.

Missing the one-on-one connection with clients, Sarah decided to transition from mass tort litigation back to the areas of Bankruptcy and Family Law. Sarah is passionate about guiding families through the toughest times of their lives, whether it is related to financials, family, or both.

Sarah understands the complicated emotions involved in family disputes and has the unique understanding of how a family’s financial situation can play into domestic realtions matters. Sarah handles her cases and clients with patience, professionalism, and compassion. Sarah guides her clients through the tough transitions that come with restructuring their family and/or their financial situation,.

Sarah is trained in both the Collaborative Law process and as a Mediator. She uses these skills to resolve disputes, while focusing on maintaining or fostering the healthiest possible relationship between the parties, especially when children are involved. She believes that using these alternative resolution styles result in a deeper, more thorough, resolution, which allows her clients to be better co-parents and can empower them to resolve future issues, without the bitterness and anger typically seen in a litigated divorce or custody dispute. She is committed to expanding the use of these alternative resolution models and educating those that are looking for a more peaceful process.

Sarah is a member of the, Colorado Bar Association, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, Arapahoe County Bar Association, CBA Family Law Section, CBA Modern Law Practice Initiative Section, Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals, International Academy of Collaborative Divorce Professionals, and is one of the founding members of the South Denver Collaborative Divorce Professionals Practice Group.

When not in the office, Sarah enjoys spending time reading, cooking, baking, hiking, biking, and crafting with her two children. During the summer, she spends as much time as she can in the mountains camping with family, friends and two dogs, Lulu and Izzy.
